We’ve put together EV uptake data and tracked it across multiple states from January 2021. The biggest surprise is Queensland’s EV uptake and how quickly they’re catching up to Victoria.
Queensland has some of the best charging infrastructure in the country, and the government is extremely supportive of EVs. This has led to Queensland; despite having a smaller vehicle market; to almost catch up to states like Victoria in EV adoption. Queensland’s EV adoption has increased by 448% since 2021 and has reached over 45,000 vehicles as of July 2024.
Statistics:
- New South Wales leads the way with close to 65,000 passenger electric vehicles.
- Victoria has just tipped over 50,000 electric vehicles.
- Queensland has over 45,00 electric vehicles.
- South Australia has over 11,000 electric vehicles.
- ACT has over 8,700 electric vehicles.
- Tasmania has over 3,700 electric vehicles.
- Northern Territory has 610 electric vehicles.
- *Western Australia data has yet to be collated.
